The Ladybug and the Flowers - Quiet Book pages 8 & 9

(I quite like today's post title. It sounds kind of epic. Like you're about to hear a cool story.)

Today is, as the title epically states, about the ladybug page and the flower page!

Both of these are classic quiet book pages. We had them in my mom's quiet book when we were kids, and I definitely wanted them in the quiet book for our kids.

The ladybug unzips down the middle, and its spots snap on and off. So, you can store the spots inside.

Ta-da!

On the flower page, all the flowers are double layered and attached with buttons. So, you can button on and off all the different colors, and change them around how you want.

The flower pot also doubles as a pocket, in case you wanted to store the flower petals inside.

And that's the story of the ladybug and the flowers! :)

  4. Did you use a template, or just make your own? My flowers are always unbalanced. :)

    1. I just made my own. :) I drew about a million flowers on paper, then cut out the most symmetrical ones (one big one and one little one) and used those as a template.

  5. My name is Rebecca. I'm going to be making a quiet book for my kids for Christmas. I've been looking through ideas for my pages, and I'd love to pick your brain on a few things if you wouldn't mind. I've never done this kind of thing before. Would you email me at littlebec1@gmail.com, and I can ask you some questions?

  6. Hi there - I've been slowly working my way through some of your pages. I'm a VERY beginner sewer and this will be my first zipper. Maybe I am missing the obvious, but what is the little half circle on page 2 for?

    1. Also, if you have any tips about the order of assembly, that would be great! Thanks!

    2. Hi! The little half circle is for the ladybug head. :) How I did the order of assembly for this page is I first sewed the big, black ladybug (from page 1) onto the page. I sewed the snaps on to the red ladybug wings. Then I sewed the zipper in the middle red ladybug wings, and then sewed that zipper/wing combo on top of the black ladybug shape all ready on the page. Finally, I sewed the half circle ladybug head at the top, slightly overlapping on the red wings. I hope that all makes sense! This was kind of tricky page to figure out the order to do things. :)

  9. How did you do the decorative stitching on the flowers? I can't seem to figure out how to get my machine to stitch that nicely on a curve.

  11. Hello! I'm wondering if you turned the edges of the cotton for the lady bug wings and if the pattern accounts for that or if I should cut it out a little bigger? Thanks!

  15. What a lovely colourful page ! I started out doing it and then I got stuck when I tried to create a button hole over two layers of felt. My machine jams. Do you have any advice on how to overcome that ?
