Chinese New Year

For the last couple weeks Ellie has been really excited about the approach of Chinese New Year. We've never done anything for it before, but she watched videos of it at school and did worksheets and has been asking if "we can go to China for Chinese New Year." Jason has this weekend off and last night he found a celebration we could go to today for her. So we drove to the other side of Raleigh and got to check out a cool and totally decked-out Asian market, run away from very exciting and much-too-close firecrackers, and watch a traditional lion dance. (Susie kept calling the lion "the big doggy" and especially loved when it "ate" some carrots and lettuce that it then spit back over the audience.) It was really fun!

Afterwards we had lunch at Panda Express.

I love each of these goofballs so much, and the fortune from my fortune cookie was super appropriate. I realized I haven't mentioned it on social media, so I thought I should give a heads-up that I am 30 weeks pregnant with our fourth little girl. She'll be arriving about halfway through April, and we are super excited to meet her. ❤

Family Home Evening

Since Jason's schedule changes weekly (he usually works three days on, two days off, two days on, three days off, etc.) we often do family home evening on a different day than Monday. We try to do it the earliest day in the week that he has off (so sometimes it's Monday, sometimes Tuesday or Wednesday or even Thursday).

This week we had it on Tuesday, and Jason was in charge of the activity. He helped the girls make chocolate crinkle cookies and popcorn. They love cooking/baking/mixing random stuff together in the kitchen, and they loved it.
