Zelda at Six Months

Zelda is officially half a year old. I can't believe it. It seems like time has flown by so much faster with her than with Ellie.

I wanted to give you an update on how Zelda is doing at six months old. She had her sixth month doctor's appointment last week; in addition to getting her shots, we found out her stats: she's 13 pounds 13 ounces, 25 1/2 inches long, and has a head circumference of 44 cm. Those are the 10th, 40th, and 90th percentiles, respectively.

Zelda's is an incredibly sweet, happy, and easy baby. She sleeps well, eats well, and rarely cries. Most of the time, she's content to crawl around, playing with the toys she finds on the floor and pausing to sit and have eye contact/smile conversations with us. She loves to be held and to cuddle.

She is an expert crawler already. She started crawling close to a month ago, and she keeps crawling faster and faster. This week she's been super adventurous and keeps crawling over things - the diaper bag, a pile of stuffed animals, Ellie - whatever's in front of her, she'll go straight over.

She's also really good at sitting up, and has been doing that as long as she's been crawling. So she'll crawl around, find something to play with, sit up and play with it, then crawl somewhere else, and on and on. She's also been pulling herself up to a standing position on the couch and a few other places.

Her new favorite toy is the doorstop on the back of our hallway door. It's springy, and she'll crawl into our tiny little hallway/connecting room, sit there by the door, and pluck it so it goes "twaaang! twaaang!" over and over.

She's been doing this funny wave-her-arm up-and-down-really-fast thing all week; in the air and to pound whatever's in front of her. No teeth yet (we don't expect to see them for a while), but some days she drools like a St. Bernard.

She thinks Ellie is the funniest person on the planet. Zelda smiles a ton, but doesn't laugh often. The most often time she laughs is when she's watching Ellie, and Ellie is doing something energetic like running around in circles, hopping up and down, or twirling. She'll watch her and just giggle and giggle.

Zelda is just such a sweet baby and we love her so much.
