Words, Words, Words

Recently Ellie has gone CRAZY with her ability to speak and use words. In just the last two weeks, her vocabulary has probably doubled or tripled. These are the words that she can and does use regularly:

  • "Dada"
  • "Mama"
  • "Papa" (for Jason's dad)
  • "Nana" (for Jason's mom)
  • "Hi"
  • "Hey"
  • "Dis" (fpr "this")
  • "Dat" (for "that")
  • "Dese" (for "these")
  • "Appuu" (for "apples")
  • "Baba" (for "bottle")
  • "Nana" (for "bananas")
  • "Oguu" (for "yogurt")
  • "Doggy", "Dog"
  • "Woof woof"
  • "Jexi" (for Michael & Shelley's dog)
  •  "Dut", "Dutty" (for "dirt" and "dirty")
  • "Wuapus" (for "diapers")
  • "Mwah" (for kisses)
  • "Bbbbb" (blowing her lips for the sound an elephant makes)
  • "Boo!" (for "peekaboo")
  • "Ta da!"
  • "Uh oh"
  • "Biddy" (for "birdy")
  • "Yay"
  • "Tai Tai" (for Jason's brother Tyler)

And these are words she's said at least once (and some of them multiple times):
  • "Grandpa"
  • "Socks"
  • "Jesush" (for "Jesus")
  • "Radley" (For "Bradley." Yes, Jill and Tommy, for your Bradley.)
  • "Cracker"
  • "Ball"
  • "Babas" (for "bubbles." She also blows with her lips to show she wants bubbles.)
  • "Windy"

Ellie even strung a couple words together this week. She was playing in the front yard with James (Jason's dad), and she picked up a handful of dirt, turned to him, and said "Dis dut" (this dirt). He got it on video. :)

That reminds me of my sister Alyse when she was a baby. Her first words were actually a sentence. My parents were sitting with her on their bed and some dogs were barking outside; she pointed to the window and said "Hear the doggies. Woof!" They both looked at each other, shocked. These were her first words! A sentence! No wonder she turned out to be an English major. ;)

And now, for your enjoyment, a video of Ellie exercising:
