Our little goober is 4 months old

Ellie turns 4 months old today! I can't believe it. She's getting so big! Here are some facts about our darling girl:

  • She loves to move. She loves to stand and for us to carry her around and show her things. Lately Jason's been walking her around and helping her grab things (like an Easter egg out of the basket to bring to me or opening the refrigerator by the door handle).
  • She does not like tummy time. Until very recently (like last week), she would cry after only a minute or so of tummy time and would only try a little bit to lift herself up before becoming frustrated. Then, suddenly, about a week ago she started pushing herself up all the way on her arms and rolling over. In one day. And the next day, she rolled over the other way. Oh, silly silly baby. So, now she can consistently roll from her tummy to her back. She hasn't rolled from her back to her tummy since that first time, which isn't very surprising since they don't usually do that for another while. She still doesn't really like tummy time, but she'll tolerate it for a bit longer now.
  • She does this really funny thing with soft things - hair, stuffed animals, burp cloths, our hands. If she's tired, she'll want to hold our hands or a stuffed animal or something similar and she'll just stroke it. She'll press our hands or the stuffed animal to her face and her forehead, and just stroke it. Her eyes will close, and she'll often fall asleep that way. It's really cute.
  • Her daily schedule is usually: Wake up around 8:30 am. Go down for a nap about 10:30 am. Wake up around 12:30 pm. Stay awake until midnight. Go to sleep. (I want her to go to sleep earlier at night, but I don't know how to get her to. She just won't. Occasionally she'll go to sleep a couple hours earlier, but it seems like chance.)
  • If she's ever in her baby carrier (that we take on hikes), she likes to face the front. She's very content that way, watching the world and chewing the carrier.
  • She likes baths. She likes to eat the wet washcloth.
  • She's really ticklish and laughs adorably when we tickle her legs or sides or tummy.
  • She likes to grab our hair. When we put her on our shoulders now, she'll latch on and try to eat it.
  • She likes crinkly sounds. We've been giving her a (closed) bag of jellybeans to play with the last couple days.
  • She's a good talker. She'll sit and talk to us for long periods sometimes.
  • We love her very, very, very much. (But that one's obvious.)
 We love our baby girl!
