We're leaving tonight!

California, here we come! After two months of living in Highland, two years of living in Utah with no breaks, we're taking off and not coming back for two months! Our bags are packed and are currently being loaded into the car, and we're driving down tonight. We're going home! We have to drive at night because we have no air conditioner in our car, and driving through the desert in the day in July with no air conditioning would be a very, very, very unhappy experience. But at night? We should be fine.

So to our friends in Utah, goodbye! We'll see you in two months. And to our friends and family in California, WOOOOOT!!! We will see you soon! :D

Books I want to read this summer

Olo! (said like Megamind. If you haven't seen that movie, you should. It's hilarious.)

So, I have a couple books on my reading list right now. Summer is such a great time to read books, isn't it? These ones, though, I'm kind of actually waiting to read. You see, every summer my family goes to Lake Powell with my Dad. It's my favorite trip of the year. It's so fun, and amazing, and I just love it. And, every year, there's plenty of time to sit down and read books in the warm air in the shade on the houseboat, with some yummy snacks and a cool drink next to you. It's pretty much the best. The books I want to take to Lake Powell this year are:

A World Without Heroes (The Beyonders) by Brandon Mull

Brandon Mull's one of my favorite authors. If you'll recall, I wrote a post on his  Fablehaven series a while ago. I'm so excited for this new series of his!

The Throne of Fire (The Kane Chronicles) by Rick Riordan

Rick Riordan is also one of my favorite authors, and I also wrote a post about him and his Percy Jackson series a couple months ago. The Throne of Fire is actually second in one of two series he's writing right now, and I'm excited to read it. I always love when I know a book is going to be good, you know?

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Ruben

This one I actually found when Jason and I were having part of our date night at Barnes & Noble last week. We went to browse and look at books, and I liked the look of this one. I read the first few chapters, and I like it and want to finish it. So, it's on the list.

What books do you guys want to read this summer? What have you just read? Do you have any recommendations?

With Child

And some Julian Smith, on the topic.

The Big Announcment

Hi all! So, you probably already know by now, but if you don't...

I'm pregnant!!!

Yes, that's right. We, Jason and Jocelyn Thomas, are going to have a baby. An awesome baby. I'm fifteen weeks along, due December 18th. Jason and I are extremely excited. I'm not showing or anything yet, so no pics of that. I do have an ultrasound picture from 9 weeks, where our baby looks like a little gummy bear. Maybe I'll post that if you want to try to decipher those crazy ultrasound things.

I've actually had "morning" sickness really bad (it's really all-day sickness), which is why I pretty much disappeared for all of May and June. Let's just say, it was bad. I just got some new anti-nausea medicine (Zofran) a couple weeks ago, and that's been helping. Plus, I think I may actually be starting to get better, for real. I've been doing really good (comparatively) for the last week. So, I'm crossing my fingers that I'll keep getting better.

Anyway, yeah! We're thrilled. :D

Hair Explosion!

Okay, so first of all I apologize for not blogging for the last two months. I know I dropped off the face of the planet, but I'm going to post an explanation later today, and hopefully you forgive me.

So, in order to jump right into the most recent news, Sydney and I got our hair cut yesterday! My hair has been getting longer and longer (and so has hers), and the longer mine grew, the shorter I wanted to cut it. So, when I finally reached my hair-breaking point this week, I wanted it all gone. Sydney has been growing her hair out to donate it, so we did some research online and decided to donate our hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. We chose that over Locks of Love because Pantene Beautiful Lengths actually uses a lot more of the donated hair and makes a lot more wigs. So, woot!

My stepsister Macall is a senior at Aveda hair school, so she's naturally the person we went to to have our hair cut off. And holy cow, she did an amazing job. Okay, let me show you the before and after pictures:

We both love our haircuts. Sydney looks so cute, and I looove my new hair. It's so light, and free, and I don't have sheets of hair getting in my way, and I just feel cool. I love it. Love it love it love it.
