Springtime in Provo

So, what have we been up to these last couple weeks? Well, we're both going to Spring Semester up here at BYU, so after our honeymoon at Disneyland we hopped back in our car and drove up to start classes the next day. We actually couldn't move into our new apartment for a couple days, but we were lucky enough to be able to stay at my Dad's house in Provo that week. We had our open house that Saturday (which I'll post pictures of soon!) and then were able to start moving into our new place on Monday.

We love our apartment! It's super close to campus (literally right across University Avenue from the big indoor practice field) and way cute. It's in this little five-plex type of building, and we've even got a backyard! It's in good condition too, not too ghetto, which is awesome. All of our neighbors are really nice, and our ward is really good, too. We had the option of going to either the family ward or the BYU married student ward; we chose to go with the family ward and we really like it.

Now, as you can see from the picture below, we've had some adventures since we moved in! Last week we came out one day to find our front tire completely flat. That afternoon, our neighbors all came out and we all tried to change the tire for two hours. Our first problem was that we didn't have the right tool to get the spare tire down; we needed a metal bar with a specific shape, but we didn't have one. Luckily, one of our neighbors who came to help did have one. So that was good, and we were able to get the spare. Then, the problem was that the lug nuts were on so tight that we just couldn't budge them forever. Seriously: so, so tight. We tested the lug nuts on the other tires, and they were fine; it was just on this one that they were holding on for dear life. Finally, after some phone calls to our families for advice, one of our neighbors (the biggest guy) was able to jump on the metal bar and got them to come loose. Then it was actually pretty easy, and we were able to get the spare on. Yay! Later that week, we were able to have all our tires changed (none of them had any tread left - the one that blew was smooth on one side), so now we should be set for a long, long time.

We also planted a garden this week! We're so lucky to have a backyard. We planted tomatoes, carrots, green beans, peppers, and onions. We're seriously so excited to be able to garden this summer.

Finally, we made some shortbread cookies with my sister Alyse a couple days ago. We got to use our new cookie cutters to make lots of fun shapes, including dinosaurs, airplanes, and stars. They tasted great. :)

And that's what we've been up to! :)
